Obituary

Conrad Tande, age 91 of Souris, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at a Bottineau hospital.  His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Conrad Omar Tande was born June 22, 1933 to Ole and Minnie (Haakenstad) Tande in Bottineau, ND. Conrad and his two older sisters, Sylvia and Joyce, grew up on a farm north of Roth near Lesje church. He took over the family farm at the age of 16 following the death of his father. His love of farming only grew from there.  Conrad met the love of his life, Clarice Nelson, in Mohall. They later married on March 22nd of 1959 in the Lutheran church of Mohall. They moved into the farmhouse near Landa which remains their present home. Together they had two daughters; Lori and Becki Jo. He was the best daddy two girls could ask for. They worked on the farm together as a family. He completed his welding certificate in Boise, Idaho and in addition to farming he worked at Western Welding in Bottineau. He developed a 3 point hitch that became popular and he sold several. Conrad continued welding while farming and used his many skills to help neighbors and friends.

He had a servant heart and a kind spirit. Conrad served on the board of Eidesvold Township and on the board of Landa Elevator. He was a lifetime member at Lesje Church where he served as a trustee. Following the closure of Lesje Church, he and Clarice were welcomed with open arms at the First Presbyterian Church in Westhope where they currently attend. He was a proud husband, father, uncle and of course, Papa. He was a very loving Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a special bond with each one of them. He bought dolls for the girls and taught the boys how to weld. He was always ready to play with grandkids. He loved spending me with his family, being at home with Clarice, watching old westerns, the color red, tractors, country music, cheeseburgers and he was so proud of his chop suey recipe. He enjoyed vising with friends and neighbors. He was so deeply loved and he will be greatly missed.

In his last few months, he resided at the Good Samaritan in Bottineau with Clarice by his side daily.

Conrad is survived by his wife, Clarice; daughters, Lori (Mike) Wentz; Becki Jo (Ole) Hagen grandchildren, Alexi (Chris) Dugger; McKaila (Jon) Anderson; Connor (Katie) Wentz, great grandchildren, Harrison Tyler and Milo Conrad, several nieces and nephews.

Conrad was preceded in death by parents, Ole and Minnie, sisters: Sylvia and Joyce and his beloved grandson, Tyler Obert Hagen and his in-laws, Mabel and Julius Nelson.
