Connie
Sime
Sep 14, 1943 — Dec 19, 2024
The Matriarch of our family is gone. Dear, sweet momma, Connie, left with the dawn on December 19th 2024. Her funeral will be 10:00 on Thursday, December 26th at Peace Lutheran Church in Dunseith, ND. Connie will be interred at Little Prairie Cemetery not far from her home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Peace Lutheran Church or the Little Prairie Cemetery.
She was born on September 14, 1943 to Sherman and Gladys Burcham of Dunseith and grew up on the family farm. Connie graduated from Dunseith High School in 1962. She was united in marriage on March 31 1965, to Larry Sime and they shared a birthday. Together they farmed on their ranch south of the International Peace Gardens raising hogs, and then, Hereford/Simmental cattle. Connie was in her element working in Horticulture at the International Peace Garden of over 2 decades. They raised 3 children: Shelley (Bruce) Fossen of Jamestown, Carolyn Sime of Dickinson, and Leon (Laurali) Sime of Williston, ND. Connie was known for being a very hard worker all of her life. She could split wood with an ax as well as any man. She was a kind soul, an excellent cook, and had a fondness for plants, animals, and the Earth. She loved her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids so very much. Holidays were always at moms and that's when she was the happiest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, her grandson, Wade, an infant granddaughter Kayla, and her siblings: Donald Burcham, Joyce Carlson, and Kathy Rhodes.
She is survived by her children and sister/best friend, Gloria Davis, of Belcourt; grandchildren, Reid (Gabby) Fossen of Jamestown, Nancy Waagen of Bottineau, Jenna Sime of Rochester, MN, Kaelyn Sime and Lacey Sime of Williston, great grandchildren Adam, Hannah, and Rylie, sisters-in-law Peggy Espe of Dunseith, Betty Burcham of Kennewick, WA and Florence Sime of Beach, ND and her brother-in-law, Daniel Sime, of Laughlin, NV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gone is the sweet woman who was the glue to our family. We will never forget her kind heart and sweet soul.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
