Connie Jean Elgin, 74, of Fargo and formerly of Dunseith, passed away at her home on Monday, March 30, 2026.

She was born April 6, 1951, in Bottineau, North Dakota, to Andrew and Ella (Christianson) Medrud. Connie grew up on the family farm in the Turtle Mountains and graduated from Dunseith High School in 1969. After high school, she worked at San Haven for several years. In 1974, she moved to Washington, where she met Albert Elgin. The couple married on November 12, 1975.

Throughout her life, Connie worked in a variety of healthcare roles in both North Dakota and Washington. She cherished time spent with family and friends, especially when hosting meals and caring for her nieces and nephews.

Connie is survived by her brother, Rodney (Mary) Medrud of Dunseith; her sister, Judy Smith of Longview, Washington; her brother-in-law, Jerry Overby of Dunseith; sister-in-law Jen Medrud of Faith, SD and many nieces and nephews, including Ronald (Stuart), Brian, Corrine, Brandon, Michael, Melissa, Michelle, MaryAnna, Jason, Chad, Jeremy, Jeff, Renae, and Scott, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Andrew and Ella; her brother, Ronald Medrud; her sisters, Patricia Overby and Wanda Medrud; her brother-in-law, Jay Smith; and her nephews, Troy and Gerald Medrud.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
