Baumann
Feb 20, 1932 — Sep 14, 2024
Colleen "Cool" Baumann, age 92 of Bottineau formerly of Westhope, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at a Bottineau nursing home. Her memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 am at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau. There will be visitation on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from noon until 5:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Colleen, known by most as Cool, 91, was born to Fritz and Donna (Jolliffe) Wohlfeil on February 20, 1932, in Rolla, North Dakota.
Cool grew up in Rolla, moved to Bottineau at age 3, where she lived until graduation. She went to nurse's training at St. Alexus School of Nursing in Bismarck for a year, before her mother's passing. She moved back to Bottineau to help take care of her dad. She met and later married Bill Baumann in 1953 at St. Mark's Church on June 11, 1953. Bill and Cool had 3 daughters: Elizabeth (Bette), Judith (Judy), and Pamela (Pam).
Cool was a housemaker, known for her sewing skills, baking abilities, especially of breads and rolls. There were not many times, that Bette or Pam came home from college that there weren't hot rolls just coming out of the oven.
Cool was wonderful at planning and orchestrating the weddings of both girls. Bette married Gene Nelson on May 28, 1976, and Pam married Dave Schmitt on May 27,1978. She also managed to hold the family together when their youngest daughter, Pam, was diagnosed and died from ALS. She always knew just what everyone needed.
Cool is survived by her, daughters Bette (Gene) Nelson, Judy Baumann, Son-in-Law, Dave (Marlys) Schmitt, 6 grandchildren, Anne (Sam) White, Kari Stange, Ben (Jill) Schmitt, Mark (Erin) Schmitt, Patrick (Carrie) Schmitt, and Katie (Mitch) Lund. She is also survived by 12 beautiful great grandchildren.
