Clyde Kersten, age 76 of Newburg, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the Edgewood Vista in Minot. His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 11:00 am the Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg. Visitation will be begin one hour prior to service time at the church.
Clyde Kersten, a son of Carl and Gertrude (Lokken) Kersten, was born on April 25, 1946 in Bottineau. He was raised near Newburg and attended school in Russell before graduating from Newburg High School. He then attended college in Wahpeton. On December 20, 1965, he married Robyn Henry in Westhope. They lived in Mohall and Clyde worked as a mechanic at the Oldsmobile dealership. They later moved back to Newburg and moved into the Bert Henry house in Kane Township. Clyde worked as a mechanic at Amerada Hess. In 1974 they purchased Newburg Sand and Gravel. Robyn passed away on December 10, 2010.
Clyde was a member of the Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg. He was a member of the Mohall Pistol Club and the Club de Skinautique at Lake Metigoshe. Clyde enjoyed team roping with the Roughrider Rodeo, playing guitar, hunting, fishing, playing cards, making dumplings at the lake and following his grandchildren's activities. He was also known for putting on a haunted house at Halloween for the area youth.
He is survived by sons, Scott Kersten of Sawyer and Chad Kersten and his wife Heather, of Minot; daughter, Kelly Haugeberg and her husband Brad of Lake Metigoshe; 6 grandchildren, Brandon and Mayce Brodehl, Ethan and Grace Kersten, and Jake Stein and Carley Kersten.; great grandchildren; Landon and Logan Brodehl; brothers, Gene (Linda) Kersten, Steve (Pam) Kersten and Jay (Diane) Kersten; sisters-in-law Patty Lodoen and , Wanda Henry; brother-in-law, Leonard Lodoen, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to the Dovre Lutheran Church and the Newburg Senior Center.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
