He graduated from Bottineau High School in 1980 and went on to attend NDSU-Bottineau before earning his degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University.
Following his education, Clayton returned to live and ranch on the sixth-generation family farm homesteaded by his great-grandfather. He was a devoted caretaker of the land and his cattle, and found joy in the quiet companionship of his loyal farm dog, peaceful days fishing, and sharing highlights of the Twins and Vikings with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brothers Larry Bottineau, Mark (Deb) Rugby, sister Joanne (Mark) Bernstein Souris. Brother-In-law Ron Volk Sherwood, nieces and nephews.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his sister Diane.
The Family is deeply grateful to the First Responders for their compassion, professionalism, and care during this difficult time.
Clayton will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to the farm, cattle and the quiet devotion he had to those closest to him.
