Christopher Spaeth, age 45 of Grand Forks formerly of Bottineau, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at a Fargo hospital. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. A prayer service will be held on Monday, January 24th at 5:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Manger Cemetery near Bottineau at a later date.
Christopher Scott Spaeth, a son of Richard Spaeth and Karen Haugo was born on July 15, 1976 in Bottineau. He was raised in Bottineau and attended Bottineau Public Schools. In 1994 he began working in the meat department of Lloyd's Super Valu. He worked there until 2006. In 2009, he moved to Grand Forks to be with the love of his life, Jo Lord. He worked at United Crane Excavation until the time of his death.
Chris was an avid hunter and loved taking hunting trips with his buddies. He enjoyed snowmobiling with family and friends. He was a gun collector and referred to them as an "investment". He was a fan of the Fighting Sioux, Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Wild. Chris enjoyed lake life, beach vacations, and Nascar Races with Jo, and many friends. He was known to fix and adjust things whether it was needed or not. Chris was known for his attention to detail, everything had its place and that's where he expected it be. He loved to pull pranks and was the life of the party. Chris was a proud American and was a father figure to his nephew, Colton when his brother, Anthony served our country.
Chris is survived by the love of his life, Jo Lord; parents, Karen and Wayne Melgaard and Richard Spaeth; grandparents, Carl and Shirley Melgaard; sister, Sadie (Glen); brother, Anthony (Stacy), nieces, Braelynn, Sophie and McKenzie; nephews, Colton, Wyatt, Luke, Kolby and Kaleb; aunts, Marianne (Bruce) Blanton, Joan Jonassen, Sherrie Jangula and Susan (Chad) Peterson; uncles, Tom (Janel) Spaeth and Ronnie Spaeth; Jo's mom, Roxana Lord; Jo's dad, Alvin (Sandy) Lord; Jo's brothers, John (Christina), Bill (Melissa), Kevin (Sabrina) and all of their children and his furry buddies, Bugsey, Snickers and JJ.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Lillian Haugo and Mary and Vernon Spaeth; aunt, Grace LaRocque; uncle, Tom Haugo and nephews, Carter and Cooper Oppen.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
