Catherine
Jose
Apr 14, 1950 — Oct 4, 2020
Catherine Emerance (Cathy) Jose, daughter of Leona and Emy Picard was born into a family of 13 brothers and sisters in April 1950, raised on the family farm near Dunseith, ND, she graduated from the Notre Dame Academy of Willow City in 1968; she went to her savior on October 4, 2020.
After graduation, she was employed at San Haven in Dunseith, where she cared for children with developmental and physical deformities. Over the years she worked at hospitals and nursing homes across North Dakota, including Mandan Hospital, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center and St Andrew's in Bottineau.
In the period following graduation and her work at San Haven, Cathy moved to California where her son Christopher was born, then to Bismarck, where her son Carl was born, she lived in Minot for a time, and then back to Bismarck where her daughter Dixie was born.
In 1993, Cathy married Elmer Jose, the love of her life. They eventually settled in Bottineau where she spent her time caring for her mom and many others. Elmer passed in (2010). Cathy was a very compassionate caregiver to them as she was all of her life to those in need. While in Bottineau, Cathy did home care services to many elderly or people in need of care. She went far beyond the basic care to bring food besides the basic care. She was known for her generosity.
In addition to caring for people, Cathy loved her garden. She grew and canned a number of vegetables, jellies and jams each year. Gladly sharing her bounty with others. One of her strongest character traits was her compassion for others, a trait she passed on to her children.
Over the years, family and friends could count on Cathy to share her baked goods with them. Whether it was Christmas, a birthday, a celebration or just because, Cathy enjoyed baking cookies of all kinds. When they were much younger, her kids took great joy in stealing her cookies from the freezer and Cathy would frown and groan about how they were for others, then turn around and make some more.
Cathy is survived by her children Christopher (Sandra) Young of Bismarck and their children Gracynn and Macauley. Carl (Malette) Young of Bismarck and their children Elizabeth (Allen) Essig and their boys - Allen and Abel; Kelsey, ColeEdward, Tanner and Marc, Dixie (Paul) Pasicznyk and their children Jesse Heil (currently stationed in Japan), Wyatt Heil (Kerrigan) and their son Brexten of Camp Pendelton, California, Alexis Heil of Minot.
Cathy was a friend to many, a caregiver and gardener, but her favorite role was Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held followed by burial at the St.Mark's Cemetery by Bottineau, North Dakota. In addition, Cathy had wanted to have a family reunion in the summer of 2020, due to COVID that event was canceled. It is the hope of the family to have an event in the summer of 2021 which will also be a celebration of life.
In honor of Cathy, share a cup of coffee and your favorite baked good with a friend. Memorials can be sent to Dixie Pasicznyk at 518 East Street, Bottineau, ND 58318.
