Carson P. Belgarde, age 56 of Dunseith, died Saturday at a Belcourt hospital. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the St. Michael's Catholic church in Dunseith. The wake will be on Wednesday beginning at 6:00 pm at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery north of Dunseith.
Carson Belgarde, a son Donny Belgarde and Bernice (LaRocque-Belgarde) Poitra, was born on Nov 13, 1962 at Belcourt. He attended School in Dunseith and later Whitehall, MT. He also took some college courses. At the age of 16, he started working in Boulder, MT. After a few years, he moved back to North Dakota. He worked in Cando, San Haven and Grafton all before working at the Sky Dancer Casino. He started as a dealer and then as the supervisor of the bar area. He was elected to the Tribal Council and loved helping people. On July 22, 1985 he married Dolly Counts, this marriage later ended. He married Donna Poitra on July 26, 1997
He was a man filled with love and joy for his fellowman. Carson loved working at any job he had. He made friends easily. He loved teasing, joking and making people laugh. He never complained. If he heard that someone said something bad about him, he would say, "I must be nicer to that person and pray for them." He never bragged about his accomplishments. He also loved playing cards and dancing. He was an active member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; 2 stepsons, Ron and Bob Forschen; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren (Ashton was the light of his world); mother, Bernice Poitra; sisters, Fay (Dan) Risker of Whitehall, MT, Ruby 0Joe) Azure of Grand Forks; brother, Myron (Dawn) Belgarde of Whitehall, MT and special brother, Jeremy Grant of Dunseith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donny Belgarde; grandparents, Alec & Stella Belgarde and Jerome & Alice LaRocque; 3 aunts and 3 uncles.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
