Carleen Marie Counts 41, of Dunseith, passed away April 10,2023 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, North Dakota surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with kidney disease.
Carleen was born August 1,1981 to Clifford Counts Sr. and Claudette McLeod in Belcourt, North Dakota.
She attended Dunseith Indian Day School for her elementary years where she enjoyed playing basketball. She then transferred to Dunseith High School for her high school years. Carleen was employed with Easter Seals of ND prior to her being diagnosed with kidney disease.
She truly had a passion for people, she had a heart of gold and not see someone go without, if she could help someone in some way she would!
Carleen enjoyed her phone, playing cards with all of her card buddies, going to the casino, family get togethers, visiting with her friends, as she had many, whom will truly miss her video chats and phone calls. She was always a courageous lady that spoke her mind.
Carleen is survived by her mother, Claudette McLeod; sister Carleeta and (Jeremy) Grant; brother Terrell Counts all of Dunseith. Nephews Kieler (Mhaddie), Julius (Mehgan) of Minot; Clifford, Jevlyn, and Canyn, Nieces Callie, Chassity and Georgia all of Dunseith.
Carleen is preceded in death by her Dad, Clifford Counts Sr.; her brother Clifford Herbie Counts; paternal grandparents Lloyd & Louise Counts; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Violet McLeod. Many Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
Wake service were held at Eagle Heart on Monday April 17,2023. Funeral services were at Saint Micaels on April 18,2023 with Father Tony Hession S.O.L.T. Burial St. Louis Cemetary.
The Rosary was led by Shelly Azure, music was provided by Craig Lunday.
Gift Bearers were Jennifer Schroder and Jolean Houle. Readers were Debbie Rondeau and Bobbi Poitra. Carrying of the urn was Sarah (Faine) Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Lloyed Counts, Clarence St.Claire Jr., lenny Schroeder, Devin Parisien, Terrell Counts and Clifford Counts.
A meal followed ant Eagle Heart Lodge in Dunseith.
