ryan Hamnes, age 56 of Bottineau, died Thursday at a Rochester, MN hospital. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. The family requests that memorials be given to the Turtle Mountain Cancer Support Group, PO Box 91 Bottineau, ND 58318
Bryan Lee Hamnes, a son of Mel and Arlene (Reitan) Hamnes, was born on July 19, 1961 at Bottineau. He was raised in Bottineau and graduated from Bottineau High School in 1979. He then graduated from the Bismarck Police Academy. He went on to work at the Bottineau County Sheriff's Department for 13 years. He then sold auto parts for 12 years. He currently was employed by Border Ag & Energy as the manager of the gas/bulk station.
On April 21, 1990, he married Launee Lawyer at Bottineau. Together they had one son, Seth Elliot Hamnes.
Bryan was interested in woodworking. He enjoyed staying busy with his rental properties, hunting and having coffee with his friends and family.
Bryan is survived by his wife, Launee of Bottineau; son, Seth Elliot Hamnes of Bottineau; father, Mel Hamnes and step-mother, Beverly of Bottineau; brother, Douglas Hamnes of Minot; sister, Donna (Dennis) Sebelius of Bottineau; niece, Brianne (Jake) Kaufmann of Mohall; nephew, Brock Sebelius of Velva; Aunts, Ruth Reitan of Bottineau, Marceil Kringen of Williston, Carol (Orville) Mjelstad of Arnegard and Beatrice Hamnes of Rugby; step-sister, Deborah (Bill) Busta of Willmar, MN; step brothers, Keith (Mary) Knudson, Brad (Margo) Knudson, Bruce (Sara) Knudson and Brian (Tammy) Knudson all of Bottineau.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene; grandparents, Harold Hamnes, Edna Hamnes-Berge, Norman and Alma Reitan; step-grandfather, Gilmer Berge; uncles, Larry Reitan, Ole Pederson, Curtis Nichol, John Wenstad, Omar Hamnes, Everett Kringen; aunts, Marjorie Wenstad, Norma Pederson and Marie Nichol.
