Johnson
Mar 21, 1956 — Feb 26, 2022
Bruce Johnson, age 65 of Bottineau, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at a Minot hospital. His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a prayer service starting at 5:30 pm at the funeral home.
Bruce Johnson, a son of Lester and Marian (Manz) Johnson, was born on March 21, 1956 in Bottineau. He was raised on a farm in the Turtle Mountains and attended Bottineau Schools. Bruce then attended Lake Region College in Devils Lake and earned his degree in mechanics. He returned to Bottineau and worked at McGuire's Inc before working on the drilling rigs from the mid 1970's until the early 1980's. Bruce married Dawn Meier and soon welcomed a son, Steven, although this marriage later ended. He then worked at Johnson Sports Center for his brother, Loren, Johnson Hoe Service for his brother, Brian, Rick's Marina, Glinz Motor Sports and then Johnson's Sports Center for Dave Vad. He was currently working at Specialized Services doing what he loved most working on all things power sports.
Bruce enjoyed going fast in anything with a motor and tuning his machines to go as fast as they could. In the winter he liked to ride snowmobile and, in the summer, he liked to drive his boat at Lake Metigoshe and cruise around in his cherished 1969 Chevelle that him and his son Steven bought together. Back in his prime, Bruce enjoyed going out and spending some time on the dance floor. If you knew Bruce, you knew he had a love for all things sweet. His grandson even called him "Cookie Papa" because he always had a cookie to share when he would stop by for a visit. Most importantly, Bruce had a great love for his family and grandchildren and loved spending time with them especially during holidays and at family gatherings.
Bruce is survived by his son, Steven (Jessica) Johnson of Bottineau; brothers Loren (De), Brian (Carrie); sisters, Linda (Bill) Pugh of Miles City and Mary (Thomas) Lindquist of Bismarck; grandchildren, Shaela, Axton, and Jemma and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith and sister, Margaret
