Johnson
Dec 8, 1947 — Feb 14, 2018
Bonnie Lee Johnson, age 70 of Rugby, formerly of Bottineau and Rolette, died Wednesday at a Rugby nursing home. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Bonnie Lee, a daughter of Arland and Vivian (Hilson) Borgen, was born on December 8, 1947, in Rugby North Dakota. She was raised on a farm near Wolford, where she also attended school. She was united in marriage to Lance Johnson for 22 years. From this marriage, came 3 children, Kelly Lane, Korey Lyn, and Koni Rae. They made their home in Rolette. Bonnie was a homemaker raising their children, along with helping run various family businesses. She was a school bus driver for the school system and also drove for Koni's basketball games throughout her high school years. Bonnie lived in Minot for a few years and was employed at the Minot Daily News. She then moved to Bottineau in 2007 and worked at St. Andrew's Hospital in maintenance and dietary. She had lived in the Haaland Home in Rugby for the past while, where she loved it so and had the best of care, until the time of her death.
Bonnie loved life at Long Lake, having made many special memories for her family. She loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren, especially going to their activities and having them in her home, where she had a special candy drawer just for them. Bonnie always had a smile on her face and loved to have playful, spunky interactions with anyone who crossed her path. She had a love of music all of her life, and comes from a musically-talented family. Many times you would find her chording on the keyboard as her other family members played instruments and sang along. She loved to dance, with the polka being one of her favorites. She loved spending time outdoors, feeding the birds and stray cats, watering her flowers and digging dandelions out - ONE at a time. She loved a good game of cards, especially pinochle with her sister and brother in law, and Old Maid with her grandchildren. In her younger years, she was an avid golfer and snowmobiler. She always loved a good family meal, but she sure knew when to floss her teeth or water the trees.
Bonnie passed away very peacefully on February 14, 2018, at the Haaland Home surrounded by her loving family. God called her home to be with HIM on Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday. Oh....what a glorious day!
She is survived by her children, Kelly (Dorothy) Johnson of Rolette ND, Korey (Renae) Johnson of Bradenton, FL, and their 4 children Charity of Knoxville TN, Caleb, Elijah, and Aunna, also of Bradenton, Koni (Steve) Hahn of Kramer ND, and their 3 children Brady of Fargo, and Ethan and Paden also of Kramer. Siblings, Arlene (Norval) Johnson, Carol (Joel) Braaten, Eldon Borgen, and Kevin (Marlene) Borgen, many nieces and nephews, and a close friend Sherman Graber of Rolette.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, many aunts and uncles, a dear sister Ardis Muench, and a special nephew Robb Johnson.
Bonnie's family would like to thank you all for being a part of her life throughout her time on earth. She will forever be missed.
