Obituary

Bill Henry, 72, of Minot, ND passed away on November 19, 2020, at Trinity Hospital after a battle with COVID-19.  A private service will be held and burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery.

Bill was born on November 3, 1948, and adopted with his twin sister, Bonnie, by Reginald and Elsie Henry of Newburg, ND.

After Bill graduated from Newburg High School, he joined his father on the family farm, which he continued to manage until his retirement.

Bill married Rose Ann Loughman on May 28, 1972. Rose and Bill divorced in 1993 but remained friends and raised five sons together.

Bill was a sports enthusiast who loved his kids and grandkids.

He was an avid and talented bowler who traveled across the state and as far as Reno, NV, to compete in bowling tournaments, several of which he won. Bill loved teaching his sons to bowl and he enjoyed beating them every time they bowled together.

Bill also enjoyed basketball and played for several years on his church basketball team. He was also selected to play in a charity game against a team of Minnesota Vikings players. Although he was held scoreless by a swarming Viking's defense that left him open most of the game, Bill had a blast bantering back and forth with players he watched on TV.

While Bill liked to play sports, he is most remembered for his ability to talk sports. He had an encyclopedic knowledge, backed by his obsessive collection of sports memorabilia. If he heard you were attending an out-of-town sports game, he would always ask you to "pick up a program" for him. He read and saved them all, and amassed an impressive collection of programs, baseball hats and sports cards over his life.

Bill loved that his children and grandchildren grew up with a passion for sports. He never missed attending one of their games, and took great joy in annual family trips to Minneapolis to watch the Twins play baseball and to Winnipeg to watch the Jets play hockey.

He also rarely missed a local sports game. Bill enjoyed the social aspect more than the games themselves, and always appreciated the friends who stopped by to say hello and to catch-up.

Bill is survived by his five sons: Corey (wife Whitney), Daron, Brett (fiancé Jess), Derek (wife Alex), and Trevor (fiancé Chloe). He is also survived by his ex-wife Rose, twin sister Bonnie and 12 precious grandchildren: Toby, Greta, Oliver, Amelia, Addison, Hezekiah, Hoshea, Ishmael, Ezra, Solomon, Gabriella and Gamaliel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Good Samaritan in Bottineau, ND.

Bill's funeral will be lived streamed at https://youtu.be/jtALdJmIhZI onWednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
