Obituary

Beverly Hamnes, age 93 of Bottineau passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at a Bottineau hospital. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the United Parish in Bottineau. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.

Beverly Faye Hamnes, a daughter of Clarence and Jennie (Hurst) Handeland, was born on February 18, 1930 at Lansford, ND. At a young age, she moved with her family to Dunseith and later graduated from Dunseith High School. On December 10, 1950, she married Allen Knudson in Bottineau. This marriage later ended. On January 27, 1978, she married Paul Brandvold. Paul passed away on January 4, 1990. On August 30, 1997, Bev married Melville Hamnes at the United Parish in Bottineau. Through the years, Bev worked as a book keeper for Wayne's Implement in Bottineau. She also did home care for the County of Bottineau and was Deputy Auditor for the City of Bottineau. She also owned and operated The Tourist Trap at Lake Metigoshe.

Bev was a member of the United Parish and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway and the Eagles Club. Bev was known for making the "Best Lefse in the County" and her lemon meringue pie. She enjoyed Crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by her Husband, Mel Hamnes of Bottineau; children, Deborah (Bill) Busta of Wilmar, MN, Keith (Mary) Knudson of Bottineau, Bradley (Margo) Knudson of Bottineau, Bruce (Sara) Knudson of Bottineau and Brian (Tammy) Knudson of Bottineau; step-children, Donna (Dennis) Sebelius of Bottineau, Doug Hamnes of Minot; step-daughter-in-law, Launee Hamnes of Bottineau; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine Kjelshus, Charlotte Hahn, Donald Handeland, Duane Handeland and Delores Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; grandson, Steven Knudson; step-son, Bryan Hamnes and siblings, Muriel Hanson, Elaine LaLone and Kenny Handeland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the United Parish in Bottineau.
