Obituary

Betty Nostdahl, age 94 of Bottineau, died Monday, May 13, 2019 at a Bottineau hospital.  Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery.

Betty was born Margaret Betty Jean Johnston to Dewey and Nora (Eidsness) Johnston on February 21, 1925. She was born at home in Mount Rose Township of Bottineau County. She was the oldest of three children and attended most of her schooling in McHenry county schools graduating from Granville High School in 1942.

During WWII, Betty moved to Washington to work in the war manufacturing plants. Afterward, she moved back to North Dakota and she met Bruce Nostdahl.  They were married on December 27, 1947 in Lansford ND. They lived on a farm near Landa until 1949 when they moved to Bottineau. They raised five children, Bill, Bob, Eric, Holly and Dan.

Betty did office work for many businesses including a dental office, bank, Koland Inc., Bottineau County Abstract and then clerk at the Bottineau County Treasurer's office until her retirement. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and active in the church Circle and other committees. She was also very active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

She quietly passed away at St. Andrews Hospital on May 13th at the age of 94.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bruce, son William, and brother Harold.

Survivors are her youngest brother Duane, Spanaway WA; four children, Robert (Paulette), Eric (Penny) all of Bottineau, Holly (Russ) Schirado of Menoken ND, and Daniel (Druanne) of Anthem AZ; daughter-in-law, Valerie Nostdahl of Bottineau; 10 grandchildren, Serenity (Matt) Richard, Amanda (Dan) Fett, Kristen (Evan) Pugh, Jesse (Krystal), Shawn, Taylor, and Abigail Nostdahl, Casey, Dustin (Dusti) Schirado, Lindy (Steven) West; 12 great-grandchildren, Mathias, Anya, Alaythia , Reagan, Eden, Peyton, Collin, Emma, Kayce, Hatti, Jolene, and Kinley.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
