Betty
Brandvold
Jan 19, 1946 — May 29, 2022
Betty Ann Brandvold passed away peacefully on May 29, 2022 in Nampa, ID while in hospice care. She was a beloved mother and sister to her surviving family members. Betty was able to see family in her last days and was surrounded by caring, compassionate caregivers at the time of her passing. Betty was always a woman of strong faith, and as a Catholic she was given last rites by her priest prior to her passing.
Betty was born on January 19, 1946 to Paul and Mabel Brandvold of Souris, ND. Betty was the fifth of seven children and the fourth of five girls born into the Brandvold family. The Brandvolds operated a farm near Souris for many years, farming wheat, barley and oats, as well running a dairy operation. Like her siblings Connie, Gloria, Jerry, Pat, Linda and Tim, Betty attended and graduated from Souris High School in 1964.
Betty had three children from her marriage to Kenneth Nelson of Bottineau: Nicholas, Eric and Tobias. She remarried twice over the years and enjoyed walks, gardening, traveling and visiting family around the country. She lived all around the United States after leaving the farm: New Haven, CT; Minot, ND; Olathe, KS; Eagan, MN; Kerrville, TX; Moorhead, MN; Eugene, OR and Boise, ID.
In passing, Betty joins her sister Gloria and brother Jerry, and is survived by sisters Connie Michaelsen of New Smyrna, FL, Pat Kersten of Bismarck, ND and Linda Wyman of Green Valley, AZ; brother Tim Brandvold of St. Cloud, MN; her children, Nick Nelson of Centerville, WA, Eric Nelson of Rapid City, SD and Toby Nelson of Boca Raton, FL; and her first husband Ken Nelson of Roseburg, OR.
Betty is in a better place now, but will always be missed dearly by her siblings, children and friends, and will always be remembered for her love, compassion, bold spirit and sense of humor.
