Beatrice Rosalma Johnson passed away peacefully on November 22, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Home in Bottineau, N. D., at the age of 99 years.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Bea, as everyone knew her, was the youngest of five children and was born on October 2, 1920, to Toby and Yvonne (Robert) Dailly in rural Rolette County. She was educated at public schools in Dunseith, ND, and graduated from Dunseith High School. On January 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Johnson. They began their life together at Joe's farmstead located two miles east of Bottineau, where he farmed and also managed a grain elevator in Bottineau. They were active and longtime members of St. Mark's Catholic Church.

Together they raised eight children, five boys and three girls: Wayne Nilen, Julia Yvonne, Gary Keith, Patricia Ann, Ryan Joseph, Paul Lowell, Barton Daniel, and Catherine Jo. (Our Dad, who was raised as Lutheran, always said he didn't know what he was getting into by marrying a Catholic girl!)

Bea was a member of St. Mark's Altar Society. She loved to play cards and card games and enjoyed gardening and reading her books. She was quite the pool shark and loved to beat everyone, young or old, at her "8-ball" game!

After her husband, Joe, passed away in 1996, Bea moved to the Oak Manor senior apartments in Bottineau, where she lived for 20 years. She had many good friends from the Bottineau area, and stayed very busy playing card games and many other activities. She became absolutely addicted to Pinochle and was ready to play it with anybody at any time! In November of 2016, Bea moved to The Wellington assisted living in Minot, ND where she lived up until the time of her death.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her brother Ernest; sisters Flora Ohlsen, Lena Cummings, and Irene Bissonnette; her eldest son, Wayne; and grandson, Wade Brekke.

Surviving her passing are her children: Julie (Merle) Kroeplin, Orlando, FL; Gary (Marsha), Roswell, GA; Pat (Arnie) Kleppe, Velva, ND; Ryan (Bev), Colorado Springs, CO; Paul (Sharon), Arlington, TX; Bart (Marina), Ozark, AL; Cathy (Mark) Brekke, Edmore, ND; and her daughter-in-law, Joan Bergman Johnson, Bremerton, WA.

She was the most wonderful and loving grandma to 16 grandchildren. Bea was great-grandma to 18 great-grandchildren and great-great grandma to two little boys. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their respective families.

God so richly blessed us and enriched our lives with this wonderful lady. She will be greatly missed by her family, acquaintances, and many good friends.
