Barbara Kittleson, age 77 of Minot, died Tuesday, October 8, 2019 on arrival to a Minot hospital.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center.

Barbara Kittleson, a daughter of Edwin and Ella (Sell) Peterson was born on September 10, 1942 in Minneapolis.  She was raised there and graduated from North High School n 1960.  She then attended Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1963 with a nursing degree.  Barb was married to Tom Simmons for a time and to this union 2 daughters were born; Beth and Debra.  She later married Earl Roland and to this union a son was born, Matt.  She worked at St. Andrew's Hospital in Bottineau in the long term care unit.  Barb later moved to Minot and continued her nursing career at Unimed working as a charge nurse in the mental health unit.  Nursing was a calling for Barb and not just a job.   She later retired due to her health.

Barb volunteered as a Girl Scout and Candy Striper leader.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking, riding 4wheeler and taking care of her animals.  She made quilts for veterans and for the flood victims in Minot.  In her younger years, Barb loved spending her summers on her aunts and uncles farms.

Barb passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 on arrival to a Minot hospital.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Simmons of Minneapolis and Debra Simmons of St. Cloud, MN; one son, Matt Roland of Bottineau and an aunt, Hilma Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
