Arnold Larson age 89 of Souris, passed away on Thursday, December 27th, 2024, in a Bottineau nursing home. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10 am at the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Arnold Odin Larson was born on June 3, 1935, to Arthur and Olga (Score) Larson. He was raised on the family farm south of Landa and started country grade school in Starbuck township only speaking Norwegian. He went on to graduate from Bottineau High School in 1953. He married Jordiene Thorenson of Newburg in 1959, and they raised their five children on the family farm. Arnold was the third generation to live on the land that his grandfather Peter settled on in 1899.
Arnold enjoyed life on the farm. He had draft horses that he would hitch up to both sleighs and carts for rides. He took in many threshing shows and liked collecting old tractors. In later years, he enjoyed supervising his sons' farming operations from the seat of his four-wheeler. His faith was most important to him.
Arnold is survived by his four Children: Deb Kleven, Peter Larson, Jeremy (Kalee) Larson, and Eric Larson; 14 Grandchildren: Chelsea (Preston) Page, Riley (Sara) Kleven, Jackson (Jaycee) Kleven, Jacob Larson, Jori Larson, Brady (Jodi) Wingenbach, Joseph (Tatiana) Hackman, Mariah Hanson, Olivia Larson, William Larson, Austin Wingenbach, Kelsey Wingenbach, Molly Wingenbach, Abby Wingenbach; 10 Great-Grandchildren: Leo, Max, and Liv Page, Oscar and Emmett Kleven, Dawson and Piper Kleven, Norman and Franklin Wingenbach, Henry Hackman
Arnold is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jordiene; his parents, Arthur and Olga Larson; daughter, Diane (Jerry) Wingenbach; daughter-in-law, Susan (Peter) Larson; son-in-law Don (Deb) Kleven; sisters, Inga (Jerroll) Erickson and Pearl Larson
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
