Obituary

Arlene Wettlaufer, age 96 of Bottineau, died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at a Bottineau nursing home.  Her funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the United Parish in Bottineau.  Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Arlene Bernice Wettlaufer was born on February 5, 1923 in Bottineau, North Dakota to Elmer and Minnie (Torgerson) Jensen. She grew up on the family farm in the Turtle Mountains, and attended the Jelleberg grade school  and graduated from Bottineau High School. She met Allan Wettlaufer and they were married on August 29, 1945 in Bottineau. They lived on the Wettlaufer farm S.E. of Bottineau and there they raised their five children. In 1990 they moved into Bottineau. Allan  passed away on August 23, 2012.  Arlene continued the remainder of her life as a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, which she called "her home".  She was always appreciative of all the staff and the excellent care that she received.

She was a member of the United Parish in Bottineau.  Arlene was very involved in the community activities including: Omemee Homemakers, women's bowling league, Bottineau Community Theater, PW, 4-H Leader and the St. Andrew's Auxiliary.  She enjoyed gardening (especially flowers), crocheting and sewing.

Arlene passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at a Bottineau nursing home.

Arlene is survived by her five children, daughters, Linda Bullinger of Minot, Cathy Getzlaff of Minot, and Betty (Sidney) Paulson of Mapleton; sons, Gerald (Joan) Wettlaufer of Bottineau, and Thomas (Michele) Wettlaufer of Pennington NJ; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Earl; sister, Phyllis Getzlaff; two sisters-in-law, Fidelis Sivertson and Mary Lynn Jensen; brother-in-law, Norman Getzlaff and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Melfred and Harold; sisters, Arlene (infant), Loraine Deraas and Margaret Getzlaff and sons-in-law, Garry Bullinger and Rodney Getzlaff.

Arrangements are with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
