Arleen Maybelle McKechnie, age 90 of Westhope, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 on arrival to a Bottineau hospital. A private funeral will be held. Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westhope. Burial will be at the Westhope Cemetery.
Arleen McKechnie, a daughter of August and Clara (Shong) Ehlke, was born on May 15, 1930 at Eckman, ND. She graduated from high school in 1947. On November 24, 1947, she married Bud McKechnie. To this union five children were born, Richard, Dennis, Vickie, Kim and Wendy. Arleen spent years taking care of her family before becoming a CNA at the Westhope Nursing Home where she worked for 31 ½ years. Bud passed away on March 12, 2007 and Arleen continued to make Westhope her home.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Connie) McKechnie of Orange, CA, and Dennis (Diane) McKechnie of Westhope; daughters, Vickie Tolstad of Westhope, Kim (Roy) Towne and Wendy Anderson (Eric Miller) both of Bismarck; grandchildren SueAnn (Joe) Kim, Pam Moore, Scott McKechnie, Aaron (Jana) McKechnie, Mindi McKechnie, Taylor (Tyler Murray) Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, and Zachary Anderson; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Jonathon, and Christopher Kim, and Brandon and Laura Moore, Audrey McKechnie, Leah and Cailyn McKechnie, Noah, Ella and Hazel McKechnie, and Luna and Finley Murray; sisters, Muriel Brandt, Vivian Wentzel and Marion Mettler and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arleen passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 on arrival to a Bottineau hospital.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters; June Skinn, Evelyn Zurcher, Ardella Stroebel, and 3 brothers; Lavern, Floyd, Leon
