Evans
Oct 21, 1925 — Jan 11, 2024
AnnaRose Evans, age 98, left this world to meet her Heavenly Father on January 11, 2024. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau, North Dakota. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024 starting at 1:00-7:00 PM at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
AnnaRose was born on October 21, 1925 in Gatzke, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Anna (Sefert) Bernstein. AnnaRose attended school and grew up in that community. She was the youngest by ten years, as well as the only girl, so her three older brothers were always watchful and ready to protect.
AnnaRose met the love of her life, Glenn Evans, in 1940. They were married on November 7, 1945. They lived on their farm near Grygla, Minn. for several years as AnnaRose continued to work at a country store in Gatzke. Eventually, they sold their farm and moved to Thief River Falls, Minn. where they purchased a grocery store, Evans Grocery. AnnaRose was also employed at the S & L store in Thief River. In 1955, AnnaRose and Glenn moved to Bottineau, North Dakota and were blessed with the birth of two daughters, Kathryn Gayle and Kay Rose. They eventually purchased Bottineau Motor Company where AnnaRose worked as the business manager until the time of their unofficial retirement in 1981.
AnnaRose was very active and enjoyed the fellowship at Grace Lutheran, especially her time teaching Sunday School and the Lamp Lighters Children's ministry. She spent countless hours working with the Women's Missionary Fellowship group which gave her so much pleasure as well as did her time leading the Sing Time at St, Andrew's Hospital. AnnaRose also worked for several years at the Good Samaritan Center as well as a classroom aide helping children with disabilities. AnnaRose was also very active in her daughter's lives, always ready to jump in to volunteer with whatever needed doing. To this day, classmates remember her cooking and baking, especially her butter horns.
AnnaRose is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Jim) Ellingson of Stanley, ND and Kay (Curt) Evans-Carels of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Grandchildren Kristopher Erickson (Dawn), Kaela (Derek) Laudal, Kaloni (Jacob) Torgerson, Luc Carels, Brooklyn Carels, two step-grandsons, Shane (Emily) Ellingson and Jim Ellingson, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. As well, her adopted family members Mary Rothmann, Scott Rothmann, Thea (Guy) Greebe and girls and Junko Akatsu.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Glenn, three brothers, Glenn (Sophie), Roy (Sally), Bill (Tillie) Bernstein, and a son-in-law Kevin Erickson.
May Her Memory Be A Blessing
