Alvin Hall, age 79 of Bottineau, died Wednesday at a Minot hospital. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Lake Metigoshe Christian Center. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Alvin Hall, a son of Elmer and Alice (Pugh) Hall, was born on September 9, 1938 at Bottineau. He grew up on the family farm north of Bottineau. He attended Bottineau High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. He graduated in 1956. On August 29, 1956 Alvin entered the US Army. He received his Honorable Discharge on August 28, 1959. On February 21, 1960 he married Evelyn Dahlberg at the Nordland Lutheran Church. He worked at Ace Hardware for a time before working at Hall's Standard. They purchased Hall's Standard in 1962 and he operated it until his retirement in 2010. Following his retirement, he worked as a mechanic at Tweed County Ag in Bottineau.
Alvin was a member of the Metigoshe Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, AM Vets, the NRA and the Eagle's Club. He served on the Bottineau Planning Commission, as president of the Chamber of Commerce and on the Amoco Council. He also was an instructor with the National Junior Rifle Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the farm.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Bottineau; brothers, Roger Hall and Gordon Hall of Bottineau; sisters, Lorna Goetz of Fort Collins, CO and Viola Biberdorf of Great, Falls, MT and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sons, Carlyle Alvin, Daniel Adam and Steven Elmer; sisters, Delma Fairweather and Leona Hall and brother Cliff Dinwoodie.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net.
