Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Alney was born on August 7, 1948, in Bottineau North Dakota to Frank & Clarice Kofoid. Alney grew up in Bottineau North Dakota where he spent his younger years working on the farm; haying and milking cows as well as working in agriculture, concrete hauling, and furniture delivery. Alney graduated from Bottineau High School in 1967. As he grew older, he was drafted into the Army during Vietnam (1970-1972) where he became a Spec 4 MP; stationed in Okinawa and Johnston Island. After an honorable discharge from the Army Alney met the love of his life Lorna K Adams in 1972 and were married in August 1973 in Upham North Dakota. Alney & Lorna moved to Casper, Wy shortly after their first son (Justin) was born in 1978; after moving to Casper, they had two more sons (Dane & Desmond) in 1982. Alney and Lorna created an amazing life together in Casper Wyoming, where they have both touched many lives in their journeys. After arriving in Casper in 1979; Alney started working at the Casper Hilton Inn where he became Chief Engineer, he held that position from 1991 until 2001. After 23 years as Chief Engineer, Alney left to pursue his love of everything construction; as a handyman with his good friend Loren Pearce. Alney and Loren became quite the duo for remodeling services in Casper! In 2007, Alney decided to go back to engineering and become a Civil Engineer for the Dick Cheney building belonging to the Pipefitters Union 900, retiring in 2016.
Alney loved his family more than life itself, he took great pride in his 7 grandchildren: Mariah, Dakota, Preston, Kelsey, Josslynn, Merrick & Jordian. He cherished his time with his Wife, Sons, Daughter-in-Laws, Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and countless other family and friends. Alney never hesitated to help a family member or friend out with their countless remodels; always offering a word of advice or a helping hand. You could always find Alney sporting his famous pearl snap shirts and cowboy hats. He will always be known for his famous Dadisms; "Fine as frog's hair split twice with a broadaxe." And "Almost only counts in hand grenades, horseshoes, and atomic warfare." When asked what he would like for dinner, the response would always be "T-bone steak and potatoes with a shot of whiskey." Alney was a friend to all who met him, and when in public he never met a stranger; he would talk to anyone about anything and always left the conversation with a new friend.
Alney's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many, but we know he is sitting at the Throne of Jesus healed of all his ailments.
