Obituary

Allen Grover, age 86 of Landa, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 a Bismarck nursing home. A private service will be held.

Allen was born to Arthur and Florence (Heebink) Grover on November 6, 1939 in Bottineau. He grew up on a farm southeast of Souris and attended school in Souris. On November 28, 1958, he married Patty Boreson at Landa. They had a son, Gary, and a daughter, Jodi. Allen and Patty farmed near Landa for many years. Allen also hauled coal for years in the off season. When he wasn't farming or hauling coal, you would find him tinkering in his shop. He had a thing for restoring old International tractors. His first restoration was a 1927 Model T that he made into a jitney. He taught his kids work ethic. Gary and I got introduced to field work at a very young age. If you could work for my Dad, you could work for anyone!

He eventually started showing signs of dementia, then was diagnosed with Alzheimers. He eventually needed more care, so in January of 2021, he entered the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center and resided there until mid 2025. He was then transferred to St Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck and resided there until his death.

He is survived by his daughter, Jodi and her husband, Brad Nickelson of Minot, his grandson, Garrett Grover and his wife, Lindsey, and great-grandson, Brixton, of Landa; his granddaughter, Brittany Orr, and great-granddaughter, Emma, and great-grandson, Silas, of Grand Forks; sisters, Linda Zorn and her husband, Dennis, of Cooperstown, and Mary Boutilier and her husband, Gregg of Granville; as well as many nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary; wife, Patty; his parents; father and mother-in-law, Gil and Johanna Boreson; sister, Jean Bernstein and her husband, Leverne, of Bottineau; sister Faye Thompson of Minneapolis.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Allen while he was at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center and St Vincent's Care Center in Bismarck. Your care and kindness was very much appreciated.
