Adrien Belcourt, age 94 of Maxbass, passed away on January 31, 2021 at a Minot hospital. A private family service will be held. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery at Maxbass.
Adrien Phillip Belcourt, a son of Lucien and Clezarie (Ricard) Belcourt, was born on February 15, 1926 on a farm north of Mohall. He attended school until the 8 th grade when his father passed away and he had to stay home and help on the farm north of Westhope. He entered the US Navy on February 2, 1944. He served on the USS New Jersey in the Pacific during WWII, He received his honorable discharge on February 21, 1946. On November 28, 1947, he married Dolores Hamel. They lived on the Sausker farm until 1959 when they moved to their permanent farm near Maxbass where they raised 5 children. Adrien worked on the oil rigs for 30 years, beginning in 1954. He and Dolores also owned and operated the Mobil Station in Maxbass. They also farmed 5 ½ quarters with their children. Adrien also did some custom combining and served as a police officer for 6 years. Dolores passed away on June 28, 2020 following 72 years of marriage.
Adrien served on the church board at the Maxbass Catholic Church and was active in the Sunday Mass Readings. He believed that the Good Lord was with him on many occasions when He helped him survive many accidents. Adrien was very good at repairing all sorts of things including his vehicles and machinery. In his later years, he enjoyed playing bingo and pinochle. Adrien always had a good story to tell. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie (Sharon) Belcourt, Thomas Belcourt, Carolyn (John) Mjoen, Cynthia (John) Kellebrew and Michael (Rhonda) Belcourt; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Albin Nicholson and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Norbert, Charles and Dale and 2 sisters, Florence and Marietta.
Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Friends may sign the online register book at www.nerofuneralhome.net .
