Mabel Robertson

Died: February 11, 2013

Mabel Robertson, age 77 of Bottineau, died Monday at a Minot hospital. Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7;00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.

Mabel Elizabeth (White) Robertson was born on March 1, 1935 in Dalhousie, New Brunswick to Harry and Lizzie (Young) White. Mabel’s childhood was spent in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, where she attended school. Mabel was one of 14 children. Mabel married Bradley F. Robertson on September 5, 1953 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada while Bradley was stationed at Ernest Harman Air Force Base in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada. After their marriage, they were stationed in several locations while raising their three children, including Ernest Harman AFB, McDonald AFB, Greenville, South Carolina, Hunter AFB, Savannah, Georgia. She became a U.S citizen in 1960. After Bradley’s retirement from the USAF, they moved to Bottineau in 1968. She attended NDSU-BB-IF in Bottineau and was employed for a time at Ben Franklin and Pizza Inn.

She enjoyed raising her family, along with a variety of hobbies and interests including cooking, baking, and hosting family gatherings, crotcheting, floral and vegetable gardening, fishing, and caring for pets. She was a member of and enjoyed working with member of VFW Auxiliary, holding local and state offices in the organization. She enjoyed attending hockey games at the Bottineau arena, and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mabel passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 in a Minot hospital.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, and her very loving husband, Bradley R. Robertson.

She is survived by two sons, Brad and his wife, Marcia, and Paul both of Bottineau; one daughter, Dotty and her husband John Hosmer of Bottineau; Grandchildren, Jason Robertson, Bottineau, Kristi (Roscoe) Streyle of Minot, and Scott Robertson, Ryan Kersten of Bottineau, Jacob Robertson of Dickenson, ND; Great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Gavin and Emersyn Robertson, Kiera Biberdorf and Ellie Streyle, and Peyton Robertson; Sisters, Shirley Spriggs of Kentucky and Helen White of Canada; Sisters-in-law, Adeline Forsberg of Minot, ND, Janet (Jim) Hunt of Devils Lake, ND, Joyce (Ben) Borgan of Rochester, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
