Clarice Faith Dravland

Clarice F. Dravland, age 84 of Bottineau, died Friday in a Bottineau hospital. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a prayer service and open sharing at 7:00 P.M. all in Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.

Clarice Faith Dravland, a daughter of Oscar and Julia (Branes) Bergh; was born on May 16, 1928 at Sinai, SD. She was reared there and later graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She then studied at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She was a parish worker in Decorah, IA and in 1954; she moved to Bottineau and began working at the First Lutheran Church. On November 25, 1955, she married Alvin Theodore Dravland at Sinai, SD. They made their home on the Dravland family farm where she worked alongside Alvin on the farm. She also was a substitute school bus driver. She later worked for a crop reporting service for the ND Agriculture Department.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau where she served on the church council and was active with the WELCA and the choir. She was also active with the Bottineau Ladies Choir and the Bottineau Community Theater.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin Theodore Dravland of Bottineau; sons, Paul Alvin Dravland of Souris and David Keith Dravland of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Sara Lynn Gunsch (Bryon) of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Lily Clarice Gunsch of Minneapolis; sisters, Thea Bergh and Marge Davies both of Hutchinson, MN and Dorothy Steinberg of Kent, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Faith Marie Dravland; and infant son; a granddaughter, Ariana Faith Loustaunau Dravland; brother, Oliver Bergh and 3 sisters, Audrey Iverson, Ruth Billman and Cecelia Holter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Camp Metigoshe and St. Andrew’s Health Center in Bottineau.
