CELINE JOAN AZURE

Celine Joan Azure, age 11 of Belcourt, died Saturday at her home.

Mass of the Christian burial for Celine Joan Azure, age 11 of Belcourt, was held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Belcourt. Burial will be in the spring at St. Anthony’s Cemetery rural Dunseith. Officiating at the service will be reverend Fr. Jeff Eppler S.O.L.T. Special music was provided by the Sisters, Volunteers and the St. Ann’s School Choir. Casket bearers were, King Azure, Shamos Lapean, Jim Azure, Loren Azure, Zachary Smith and Jacob Wiesenbaker.

Celine was born on September 20th, 2001, to Kateri and Lambert Azure in Belcourt, North Dakota. From the very start other early life, Celine was full of joy and love, which she generously shared with others. Singing and dancing were two of Celine's passions; and most recently she was -learning to play guitar. She often sang at church and school and her current favorite song was the "Hail Mary" in French ("Je Vous Salute Marie'), which she often sang at Mass. As a fifth grader at St. Ann's Catholic School and as an active member of both St. Anthony's and St. Ann's Catholic Parishes, Celine was continuously learning and Eying her faith. She spoke of going to heaven with the profound understanding of that to be her true home. Her unwavering faith was quite child -like in its certainty, as well as remarkably mature in its depth. Although only 11 years old, she looked forward to graduating from St. Ann's School next year, at tending high school with her sister, and then going on to attend Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. She had even made post college plans to travel to Paris. Besides church and school, Celine was involved with St. Ann's PIPS basketball group and had recently been a part of the Rolette County 4-H and Rolla Dance groups.

Through her so few years, Celine touched so many lives. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was younger sister Ayanna’s favorite playmate and Companion, and was older sister Terese's biggest fan and admirer. Others she loved to be with included her classmates and friends at school, the SOLT Sisters and Volunteers at St. Ann's Mission, and all of her extended family and church friends. Although her earthly life has sadly ended for all of those left behind, the eternal life which Celine so joyfully anticipated bas only just begun.

Celine is survived b her parents, Lambert and Kateri Azure, as well as her sisters Terese and Ayanna, all of home. She is also survived by sisters Jolze (Ron) Haggerty of Dunseith, Joette Azure and Gabrielle Azure both of Belcourt; and her brothers Loren Azure of Minot, Jason Allery of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Brent Allery of Belcourt; NR Other survivors include her maternal grandparents, John and Shirley Lapean of Kauai, Hawaii and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celine was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Fred and Irene Azure; Aunt Josephine Chase; and Uncle Freddie Azure.
