SHERRY MARIE POITRA
Mass of the Christian burial for Sherry Marie Poitra, age 39 of Dunseith, was held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Dunseith. Burial was at the St. Mary’s Cemetery of rural Dunseith. Officiating at the service was the Reverend Fr. Dan Abalon S.O.L.T. Special music was provided by Troy DeCoteau. Codi Rybchinski and Kari Jostad were the readers. Gift bearers were Darrell and Debbie Champagne, Lane Peltier and Lexius Davis. Casket bearers were, Travis Davis, T.J. Davis, Kelle Davis, Marcus Davis, Derrick Chase and Duane Gunville. Honorary bearers were all family, friends and co-workers.
Sherry Marie Poitra, a daughter of Virgil and Sharon (Gunville) Poitra, was born on August 19, 1972 at Belcourt. She was reared and educated in Dunseith. After her graduation from high school she attended Turtle Mountain Community College and then attended Minot State University and received her teaching degree. Sherry returned to Dunseith and began teaching at the Dunseith Day School. Later she taught elementary education at the Dunseith Public School. Sherry taught until her illness forced her to retire.
She enjoyed watching TV, especially scary movies. Sherry enjoyed Spending time with her family and friends. She loved watching her sons play sports and spending time with her sons. She was also a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Sherry passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at a St. Paul hospital.
She is survived by her sons Brady and Brandon Nerpel; Parents, Virgil and Sharon Poitra; sisters, Lori (Travis) Davis, Kim Poitra; nephews, T.J. (Larice) Davis, Derrick Chase, Kelle Davis, Duane Gunville, Marcus Davis, Lane Peltier, Tank Davis; nieces and god child Lexius Davis, niece Brailyn Davis all of Dunseith.
