Dan Aasheim, age 65 of Bottineau, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in a Minot, North Dakota hospice center after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral will be Monday at 10:00 am at the Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery on Highway 14 near Carbury.
He was born in Bottineau, North Dakota on June 22, 1947 to Clarence and Myrtle (Ihla) Aasheim, Daniel attended Souris High School where he graduated on May 28, 1965. He married the love of his life, Connie Johnston on March 6, 1971 with whom he shared 41 wonderful years.
Daniel was a humble man whose actions in life were driven by the love of his family and friends. He undertook numerous careers throughout his 65 years, including truck driver, salesman, insurance manager, entrepreneur and business owner, and assistant manager at Wal-Mart. Daniel served his country as a member of the Nebraska and North Dakota National Guard in the 1970’s.
Dan is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Heidi (Jeff) Vanlaningham and sons J.D. (Chastity) and Ryan (Erin), his sister Loretta (Loren) Bernstein, grandchildren Alexis, Mark, Abigail, Dylan, Allie, Ella, and baby boy due in November, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and great nephews & nieces.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Myrtle, sister Mavis Gran, and brother Theodore
